Stories connect us. Before we had formal education, probably before we had full languages, we had stories. Complex, sprawling tales full of wonder and glory. We’ve come a long way, but that desire to sit around a fire and spin yarns never left. That’s what roleplaying games allow us to do. That’s what they’re all about.
The Academy of Games runs a roleplaying game program for kids interested in experiencing those wild tales. But, as with everything we do, we incorporate learning into the process. Whether that’s teaching kids new systems or incorporating important lessons into campaign play, our RPG programming aspires to something more. If you feel up to that challenge, if that challenge seems like the reason you were put on this Earth, we should talk. You might like the story we have to tell you.
Daily tasks would include:
• Learning new RPG systems and studying storytelling technique
• Running both one-shot and campaign play games for kids
• Teaching kids how to run their own games with friends
Ideal candidates will have experience in school, afterschool, or camp programs. We can teach you new systems and new storytelling frameworks, but we can’t teach you passion for the material or for working with kids. That’s gotta come from you.
This is a part-time position, and will include evening and weekend work. We also give priority to DMs who can work at least one afterschool Instructor shift per week.
Please apply below. We’ll be in touch shortly. Also Joe, our Co-Founder, will likely follow up with you personally. He’s always looking for someone new to chat with about RPGs.
