The Academy of games

Do you feel learning should be fun? That games can offer more than a distraction? That what kids need right now, more than anything, is a safe place to socialize and grow away from their screens? So do we. The Academy of Games is a new afterschool program in the West Lake Hills area, and we are looking for a Youth Director to help introduce families to what games can truly offer.

The Academy of Games was founded by two game designers and games researchers who felt that children could be learning better, that learning should be fun. If you have a passion for education, an eye for what makes things pop, and at least some background with boardgames... well, you may be exactly the person we're seeking.

Daily tasks would include:

• Prepping lesson plans and helping teach the game of the day

• Running group discussion with kids

• Assisting kids with their own game designs

• Managing staff schedules and onboarding procedures

• Mantaining client relations with parents

Ideal candidates will have experience in school, afterschool, or camp programs. Additionally, graphic design and game design experience are a huge plus. Obviously, you also need to love boardgames. We can help you learn the rest. The passion has to come from you.

This is a full-time position, and it may include evening and weekend work.
